Social Account Director

The Social Account Director will be a senior consultant for both clients and the Stripe team on all things social. Providing expert knowledge, insightful strategic recommendations, creative ideas, and outstanding service to ensure social and content activity is in line with objectives, on brand, on brief, on budget and on time. 

In this role you will be managing social and integrated account delivery teams, collaborating with clients and colleagues across the wider business to proactively grow and optimise social media activity. This includes research and strategy setting, shaping and optimising account and overarching social team processes, creative content planning and production management, quality control, KPI setting, measurement, client counsel and account leadership, budget tracking and resource allocation.

Responsibilities Social & Content / Creative Skills

  • Social strategy and insight - research, landscape analysis, audits, and insight development. Strategy development at brand, channel, campaign, and ad hoc levels, including strategic presentation to clients and prospects. Accurate translation of client business objectives and briefs into actionable recommendations. Development of measurement approaches to track success and ROI in line with strategy.
  • Content planning and creation – lead and proactively contribute to brainstorms, ideation, content calendar creation/population across accounts, ensuring delivery is of the highest standard and in line with the Stripe Way. Explain and sell content plans and routes to clients to secure buy in, communicate rationale and feedback to team and manage ongoing social/content delivery.
  • Trends and Innovation - stay up to date with content trends, social/online platform functionality and innovation opportunities and their applications. Proactively share with clients and team to develop new internal capabilities, new business opportunities and position Stripe as social experts.
  • Data, analytics and measurement – benchmark, forecast, and set KPIs and measurement approaches for client social activity. Work with the team to set report formats, oversee and deliver reporting on social performance and provide recommendations.
  • Digital consultancy – understand and recommend how social activity fits into the wider digital channel mix. Maintain a general awareness of current web, email, online advertising, PPC, SEO and mobile marketing types that clients may employ alongside social media as part of campaigns to understand our contribution and where we can maximise cross-channel results.
  • Paid social – planning, setup, management and optimisation of paid social activity.
  • Influencer marketing - The role involves developing, executing, and evaluating campaigns that leverage influencer partnerships.  Responsibilities including creating and implement influencer marketing strategies that are in line with the overall marketing goals.  Work with cross-functional teams, such as social media, creative, and PR, to establish cohesive and successful campaigns.

As part of the Stripe team

  • Client service – proactively manage and lead client accounts, taking responsibility for driving activity to the highest standard and in line with the Stripe way. Grow, develop and cement client relationships, provide strategic counsel, talk competently and knowledgably about the issues facing their business and build trust. Ensure all materials are of the highest quality, setting a standard of excellence for the team to follow. Ensure KPIs are in place for all clients and monitor activity to keep on track (address if KPIs are not being met).
  • Profitability – work with the Social Director to ensure account forecasting is kept up to date, monthly billings are accurate and educate the team on the billing & mark-up process and deadlines. Manage expenditure and profitability and over servicing on clients, flagging issues of over-service to the Social Director. Ensure jobs are opened on the system for new clients and POs are in place. Create budget (fees & expenses) trackers for every account and ensure team understands finance process. Supervise the running of paid campaigns and bill paid social spend. Understand cross office rates and charging structure.
  • Business Development - proactively seek out new social business opportunities. Support the senior team with new business pitches and draft proposals for growth activity on existing accounts. Provide updates to clients and teams on social trends and provide social POV to generate opportunities via upsell/cross-sell.
  • Excellent presentation and efficient communication – effectively present to clients, prospects and the team at a high level. Develop and refine internal and client-facing materials, briefing documents and processes. Ensure all materials are of the highest standard – follow the Stripe Way and reiterate the importance of attention to detail and cascade to junior team.
  • Knowledge sharing – support team development by proactively sharing knowledge and providing training on specific social activity within your areas of expertise. Showcase work we have delivered and collaborate with internal team members at all levels to identify new opportunities and grow existing clients, by helping them understand the work you do.
  • Team leadership - Support staff personally & professionally, encouraging ambition, inspiring curiosity, and helping them develop social expertise. Provide direction and guidance on accounts, helping develop staff ability and progression. Play an integral part of the Stripe Senior Leadership team – communicating values and vision and working on operational projects. Share client / campaign strategy and provide a clear role for each team member.
  • Stripe brand – play a key role in evolving and delivering content for the Stripe brand across social, web and for internal use. Proactively suggest content, drive growth on Stripes owned channels and represent the agency via external networking at industry forums, events and awards

  • Social listening tools such as Meltwater, Brandwatch or similar
  • Influencer identification and management tools such as Klear
  • Facebook/Meta Business Manager and Ads Manager
  • TikTok Creator Marketplace and Ads Manager
  • Google Analytics
  • Desktop research methodologies for insight generation
  • Social Media Management tools such as Hootsuite, Sprout, HeyOrca or similar
